An easy way to make a classic South African milk tart! Step by step, it’s not as scary as it sounds!
INGREDIENTS
dough:
- 2 cups flour
- 1 egg
- ½ cup of sugar
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 125 g butter
- a pinch of salt
charge:
- 4 ½ cup milk
- 2 lice tablespoons cornflour
- 1 cup of sugar
- 3 eggs
- a pinch of salt
- 2 ½ tablespoons flour
- 1 teaspoon vanilla essence
- a large tablespoon of butter
INSTRUCTIONS
dough:
- Whisk butter and sugar well and add the egg before whisking well.
- Add all other ingredients, making a firm paste.
- Press into one or two pie pan/round pans.
- Bake blindly for 15 minutes at 180 ° C (use wax to coat the dough and place the dry beans/rice on paper to roll out the dough). Then take out the paper and beans/rice and cook for another 5 minutes until lightly browned.
charge:
- Boil the milk gently.
- Whisk eggs well, then add sugar, flour, cornflour, and salt.
- Stir well.
- Pour the boiling milk into the mixture and mix well.
- Return to heat and stir for 10-12 minutes over medium heat until the mixture thickens.
- Add the vanilla butter and essence and mix, then pour in the cooked crust.
- Leave in the refrigerator (you no longer have to cook the tart)
- Sprinkle with cinnamon to decorate.
