How To Prepare Banga Rice with this Simple Recipe + Video Tutorial

You knew Banga soup, but have you ever heard of Banga rice?

Well, Banga rice is a type of local Jollof rice and is popular in Warri, a city in Delta State, southern Nigeria, where the Banga soup comes from.

If you are looking for a new dining experience or adventure, try this rice.

This is what you will need to make a delicious bowl of Banga rice.


  • Palm extract, made from scratch or preserved
  • 1 teaspoon Bang spice
  • Crayfish – Optional
  • Smoked fish
  • Oburunbebe stick – optional
  • Meat stock
  • salt
  • Seasoning cubes
  • rice
  • Chopped red onions
  • Dried or fresh peppers


  1. First, dissolve the palm extract in enough water to cook the required amount of rice.
  2. Add beef broth, chopped onions, dried peppers, Banga spices, oburunbebe stick, smoked fish, crabs, salt, and diced spices. Bring to a boil until you see oil stains floating on top. Test to be satisfied with the taste, turn off the heat and wash the rice.
  3. In the palm oil soup, add the washed rice and allow the heat to lower slightly.
  4. Turn on the fire and bring to a boil. Rice cereals cook and absorb palm.
  5. Put aluminum foil or plastic bag over the rice and press it tightly.
  6. Allow the rice to cook a little more and be ready to serve.
