You knew Banga soup, but have you ever heard of Banga rice?
Well, Banga rice is a type of local Jollof rice and is popular in Warri, a city in Delta State, southern Nigeria, where the Banga soup comes from.

This is what you will need to make a delicious bowl of Banga rice.
Ingredients
- Palm extract, made from scratch or preserved
- 1 teaspoon Bang spice
- Crayfish – Optional
- Smoked fish
- Oburunbebe stick – optional
- Meat stock
- salt
- Seasoning cubes
- rice
- Chopped red onions
- Dried or fresh peppers
DIRECTIONS
- First, dissolve the palm extract in enough water to cook the required amount of rice.
- Add beef broth, chopped onions, dried peppers, Banga spices, oburunbebe stick, smoked fish, crabs, salt, and diced spices. Bring to a boil until you see oil stains floating on top. Test to be satisfied with the taste, turn off the heat and wash the rice.
- In the palm oil soup, add the washed rice and allow the heat to lower slightly.
- Turn on the fire and bring to a boil. Rice cereals cook and absorb palm.
- Put aluminum foil or plastic bag over the rice and press it tightly.
- Allow the rice to cook a little more and be ready to serve.
