Ogbono soup is a delicious soup that many tribes in Nigeria enjoy. It is also called Ogbolo and is sometimes supplemented with leafy vegetables.
Ingredients
- 3 cups of stock
- 1kg of meat
- 1 cup pumpkin leaf or Bitterleaf, finely chopped
- 1 cup Ogbono, ground
- 400g of dried fish
- 400g Stockfish
- 200g kpomo, softened
- 1 cup crayfish, ground
- 2 cups shelled periwinkle
- 8 chilli pepper to taste
- 2 seasoning cubes
- 1 cup of palm oil
- 1 onion
- Salt to taste
Instructions.
- Wash all ingredients properly
- Season and cook the meat to get the broth.
- When the meat is almost soft, add the stockfish and kpomo
- In another pot, cook the periwinkle in saltwater and wash it thoroughly.
- Add about 6 cups of water when the stockfish, meat, and kpomo soften.
- Bring to a boil
- Add ogbono, periwinkles, and palm oil and cook for about 5 minutes.
- Add chopped bitter leaf or pumpkin leaf, crayfish, and seasoning cubes.
- Cook for another 3 minutes and add salt to taste.
