Tobechukwu Victor Okoh, popularly referred to as Peruzzi, is a singer, songwriter, performer, artist, and musician signed under the Davido Music Worldwide (DMW) label. He was previously signed to Golden Boy Entertainment.
Peruzzi Biography and Early Life
Peruzzi was born on December 5, 1989, in the state of Lagos, although he hails from Imo state in Nigeria. He started his musical career when he was only 7 years old, and it all started when his father bought him a keyboard as a gift.
Peruzzi attended Lerato primary school in the region of Egbeda, in the state of Lagos, and attended Comando, Ikeja, for secondary education.
After graduating from high school, he had to study medicine and surgery, an advanced medical degree at the National Medical University of Odesa, one of the best medical universities in the world in Ukraine, but decided to set aside his studies to pursue music full time.
Peruzzi Career
The hit song Amaka, a masterpiece from the legendary 2Baba (Tuface Idibia), put Peruzzi in the spotlight, and the song solidified his popularity among many Nigerian music lovers.
His first studio recording came in 2007, and he has been recording music ever since. He calls his musical style “UrbanAfro Vibe,” and this is inspired by his versatility as an artist, making him the first Nigerian artist UrbanAfro Vibe.
His public profile continues to grow as he signs with the DMW label for Davido. Under the label, Peruzzi has released several successful singles that made him stay in Nigerians’ head, which earned him the nomination of rookie of the year at the 2018 Headies Awards.
In an interview, Peruzzi admitted that giving up his plans to become a doctor was not well with his parents, especially his father, who was very disappointed.
Since then, things have gotten better at home, as with a series of family reunions, his family has helped him pursue his musical career with enthusiasm.
