Abike Dabiri-Erewa was born on October 10, 1962, to the family of Alhaji and Alhaja Ashafa Erogbogbo of Ikorodu. Alhaji Ashafa Erogbogbo, her father, is one of the sons of the late Alhaji. Sule Erogbogbo from the Adegorunsen compound, Ajina Square, Ita – Agbodo, Ikorodu. Her paternal grandmother, Alhaja Alimoto Erobogbo, is from the Bello Solebo family from Ita-Elewa square, Ikorodu.
Dabiri-Erewa had her primary education in a private school in Maryland, Maryland, Ikeja. After obtaining his first school leaving certificate, she enrolled at St. Theresa’s College Ibadan for secondary education.
She further enrolled at Ife University (now Obafemi Awolowo University, O.A.U.) Ile-Ife, where she studied English language studies. She holds a post-graduate degree in mass communication (P.G.D.) and a master’s degree in mass communication from the University of Lagos, Akoka

Before entering politics, Abike Dabiri-Erewa worked for fifteen years as a journalist for the Nigerian Television Administration (NTA). During her tenure with the NTA, Dabiri-Erewa edited the weekly NTA Newsline and was particularly interested in poverty and social justice issues.
In 2003, she resigned from the NTA to fight for the House of Representatives, winning the large majority. During her tenure, she actively opposed former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s third term bid for the presidency.
From 2003 to 2007, Dabiri was chairman of the media committee of the Federal House of Representatives.
In 2015, she was appointed Senior Special Assistant to President Muhammad Buhari, where she worked on foreign affairs and diaspora based projects.

Abike Dabiri is married to Segun Erewa. They got married in 2007, two years after their meeting in South Africa. The marriage is blessed with a son, Oladipupo Dabiri.

The marriage, which took place in Ogun state, was honored by many dignitaries, including the former president, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, Governor Akinwunmi Ambode (Lagos), Governor Rotimi Akeredolu (Ondo), Governor Kashim Shettima (Borno), Abdulaziz Yari (Zamfara), Alhaji Badaru Abubakar (Jigawa), among others.
