Biography
Ali Nuhu was born on March 15, 1974, in the city of Maiduguri, Borno, Nigeria. His father, Nuhu Poloma, was a great politician and former president of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Gombe State.
His mother, Haji Fatima Karderam Digema, comes from the village of Bama in Borno state. She was a caterer and a teacher.
Ali Nuhu grew up in the city of Maiduguri, Borno, Nigeria. He received his first primary education in Riga special primary school. After his elementary studies, he enrolled at the Government Secondary Commercial School in Kano. He further attended Science Secondary School, Dawakin Tofa, from where he obtained a secondary school leaving certificate.
After finishing secondary school, Ali Nuhu went to the University of Jos, where he graduated in geography.
He also studied film production and cinematic arts at the University of Southern California.
Career
Ali Nuhu joined the Hausa film industry in 1999. However, he first went for an audition while studying. There he found an advertisement from the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA).
His first film was “Abin sirri ne.” However, he is best known for his role in the movie “Sangaya,” a film that became one of the most-watched Hausa films of the time.
After featuring in “Abin sirri ne,” he appeared in several hit movies such as “Wasila,” “Danadam Butulu,” “Sangaja,” “Dijanagala,” “Mujadala” and many others. The films helped him gain his stand in the Kannywood movie industry.
