In the history of bicycle kicks, the likes of Zlatan ibrahimovic’s kick against England, Wayne rooney’s kick against the citizens, Christiano Ronaldo’s kick against Juventus and Gareth bale’s kick against Liverpool has been making waves on the internet with people trying to choose the best of these phenomenal kicks.

But then bringing it home, Oscarine Masuluke is a name that would be unfamiliar even to close followers of South African football, but he has marked a name amongst the big names and should be heard too.

The Baroka FC goalkeeper’s stunning goal in the 96th minute on a Wednesday night in 2016.

His team, Baroka, a bottom-half team in South Africa’s Premier Division, played at home to relative giants Orlando Pirates and was losing 1-0 with all five minutes of added time.

The time was almost up when the referee decided to allow a corner, and surely that was the last kick of the game, Masuluke, 23-year-old, was sent forward by the situation to try and make something happen.

And did he deliver? Yes, he did, he created history, he performed a legendary bicycle kick.

Masuluke revealed that he played as a striker until the age of 16, Speaking after the game, but that it was nonetheless, the goal was the most memorable in his whole career.

In an interview he said

“I am still shocked,”

“When I woke up this morning was still surprised.

“I still don’t believe it. It’s not something that I practice. It’s just [a] decision I took at that moment. Fortunately, it worked so well. I am still excited and can’t believe it. I feel great.”

The goal has been one of the most talked-about in African football.
