The #OyigboMassacre – A House To House Attack By Armed Men In Army Disguise In Oyigbo, Rivers State (Graphics)
A bloody night in Oyigbo, Rivers State that left many people dead in a house to house killing spree.
The residents of Oyigbo, in Rivers State, were forced awake by numerous gunshots coming out from different houses as the massacre goes on hours with reports that there were no security operatives to help control their attack. Still, some group of people formed a vigilante group.
Unknown shooters, and according to the residents were claimed to be the Fulanis in the region that were on a reprisal attack. The Fulani Herdsmen were said to have raided the Oyigbo at night, in army disguise, killing people and burning houses.
A petrol station was set ablaze, and multiple gunshots were coming out from people’s houses. A Twitter user shared a captured video of some armed men on tinted coaster buses came to Oyigbo before the attack later at night.
According to a tweet; the #EndSARS protesters were moving towards Eleme when some Hausa men interfered that they shouldn’t exercise the protest there. A fight escalated between the Hausa men and the protesters; the protesters killed a Hausa man. The protesters took the body back to Oyigbo, on reaching Yam Zone Market, the Hausa men selling there saw the dead body and another fight occurred which resulted in the fire that gutted the market.
