How to Prepare Sao Tome Arroz Doce Delicacy

Arroz Doce is one of the most popular African desserts in São Tomé and Principe. It is prepared with coconut milk and flavored with lemon and cinnamon.



INGREDIENTS

  • 5 cups of coconut milk
  • Zest of 1 large lemon
  • 1 cup of sugar
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 1¼ cup white rice
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • Ground cinnamon

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Cook the rice with a pinch of salt, a cinnamon stick, and half a222222 lemon zest, according to the instructions printed on the package.
  2. Once the rice is cooked, add the coconut milk, sugar, and the rest of the lemon zest.
  3. Bring to a boil and simmer until creamy, stirring gently, for about 15 minutes.
  4. Remove from heat and serve in bowls. Sprinkle with ground cinnamon. Serve hot, warm, or cold.
