Arroz Doce is one of the most popular African desserts in São Tomé and Principe. It is prepared with coconut milk and flavored with lemon and cinnamon.
- 5 cups of coconut milk
- Zest of 1 large lemon
- 1 cup of sugar
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 1¼ cup white rice
- 1 pinch of salt
- Ground cinnamon
- Cook the rice with a pinch of salt, a cinnamon stick, and half a222222 lemon zest, according to the instructions printed on the package.
- Once the rice is cooked, add the coconut milk, sugar, and the rest of the lemon zest.
- Bring to a boil and simmer until creamy, stirring gently, for about 15 minutes.
- Remove from heat and serve in bowls. Sprinkle with ground cinnamon. Serve hot, warm, or cold.
