In 1989, he joined the Seattle Mariners and played for the Mariners for ten consecutive years. In that interval, he scored 398 homers and 1,752 hits. Griffey was sold to the Cincinnati Reds in 2000. At the time, Griffey was out of shape and struggling in his professional life. After 2004, he returned to action and played brilliantly for the Mariners. In 2011, he declared his retirement from baseball.

Ken received gold gloves from 1990 to 1999 for ten consecutive years. He also received the Slugger Silver Awards in 1991, 1993, 1994, 1996, 1997, 1998, and 1999. In 1997, he was an exceptional player, where he won the AL MVP award. In 2005, Griffey was recognized as the National League player of the year.

On January 22, 2013, Griffey was inducted into the Seattle Hall of Fame. He was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 2016. Ken was also on the list of the best baseball players of all time and ranked 93rd on this list.
