Mike Tyson is a retired American boxer who was the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world in the late 1980s. At his peak, Mike was one of the most famous and highest-paid athletes in the world. He was the youngest champion in history at 20 years old. Unfortunately, he wasted and was withdrawn from a personal fortune that exceeded $ 300 million at its peak. Mike filed for bankruptcy in 2003. According to the bankruptcy file, he would then have a debt of $ 23 million.

Mike Tyson was born Michael Gerard Tyson on June 30, 1966, in Brooklyn, New York. Tyson grew up in a tough neighborhood, and his stepfather was involved in crime and gambling. When Tyson was ten years old, he and his mother moved because of financial problems. At 13, Tyson was arrested for 38 crimes, often arguing with older boys who laughed at his voice. During school, Tyson’s fighting ability was discovered by a youth detention instructor and a former boxer. After working with several coaches, he joined Cus D’Amatt, a coach who would have a significant impact on the future boxing champion. When Tyson’s mother died at the age of 16, D’Amatto became his legal guardian. Tyson also worked with Kevin Rooney from a young age.

Tyson’s first professional boxing experience was at the Junior Olympics, where he won gold medals in 1981 and 1982. He also wrestled at the 1984 Summer Olympics but lost to Henry Tillman in two fights. Tyson’s first professional fight started at the age of 18, and he defeated Héctor Mercedes with a TKO as a first-team. This would set off a growing trend for Tyson, who often ended up fighting in the first round. Tyson continued to fight opponents who were more difficult than he had done before, many anticipating the star’s early rise. Cus D’Amatto died in 1985, and Tyson lost a vital father figure early in his career. Many later declared that this would show a destabilizing effect on Tyson’s future life.

Mike Tyson Breakthrough

Tyson hit the world stage with a national TV fight against Jesse Ferguson. After Tyson grabbed Ferguson with a top incision that broke his nose, the outcome of the fight was inevitable. Tyson won after Ferguson was disqualified for illegal imprisonment.

Another televised event occurred when Tyson faced Marvis Frazier, a former world title challenger. Tyson won in just 30 seconds with a knockout. Tyson beat Trevor Berbick in the second round in 1986 to become the youngest heavyweight champion in history. In 1987, he defended his title against James Smith to become the undisputed heavyweight champion. That same year, he faced Pinklon Thomas in a 12-round battle to win the IBF title. This made Tyson the first heavyweight to hold the three main belts at the same time.

Tyson continued to win in 1991. years before legal problems ended his career. After being arrested for rape, Tyson spent six years behind bars. Meanwhile, Tyson converted to Islam. After his release, Mike Tyson was legally required to register as a sex offender.

Tyson’s return was triumphant at the start, eliminating several opponents to regain two belts. However, he later lost the WBA belt when Hollyfield returned from retirement to give Tyson a TKO in the eleventh round. Tyson lost again in the rematch when he bit Hollyfield controversially twice and was disqualified as a result. Worse, Tyson’s boxing license was revoked in 1997.

In 1999, Tyson returned to professional boxing to eliminate François Both, only to return to prison nine months after allegedly assaulting two drivers. Back from prison boxing, he quickly eliminated several fighters, either in the first or in the second round. In 2000, he eliminated Lou Savarese in 38 seconds.

Tyson’s last professional victory came in 2003 when he beat Clifford Etienne in 49 seconds. After several attempts at compensation, injury, and loss, Mike Tyson retired in 2005.
