For South African designer Rich Mnisi, respect for the rich heritage of the VaTsonga tribe and their wives was the driving force behind this collection dedicated to his mother. Titled Hiya Kaya, the brand is using the collection as a call to action to protect women, a message that is particularly important in South Africa.

The Brand Wrote;

In a film shot in Louis Trichardt (Limpopo), Hole In the Wall (Eastern Cape) and Llandudno (Western Cape) we invite you to take this journey with us: close your eyes and imagine the sounds of the city counting on many talents ranging from singing without a director, to writing songs without notes, to the brilliance of cultural dancing without choreography. Open your eyes and take to the stage in the village of Tsonga, where women are in a crowd during a recital of their world-famous Twist Dance, a dance that involves strong twisting of the pelvis driven by strength and core strength .

In a timeless celebration of VaTsonga’s magnificent female form, the Hiya Kaya SS21 collection is a true testament to her beauty, power, endurance and strength. Its essence has finally been revealed, to amaze and inspire the world. We are honored to be commissioned to tell your story through wearable art.

This collection is dedicated to Rich’s mother and to all women.
