Samuel Leroy Jackson – Biography, Age And Movies

74-Year-Old American actor, and producer, Samuel Leroy Jackson was born on the 21st of December, 1948 in Washington D.C. as the only child to Roy Henry Jackson and Elizabeth Harriett Jackson.

He was raised by his grandparents, Edgar and Pearl Montgomery in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Samuel was 10 years of age when his mother who was a factory worker joined them in Chattanooga from Washington.

Reports from a DNA test claimed Samuel Jackson’s descendants are the Benga tribe in Gabon in which he later naturalized as a citizen of Gabon back in 2019.

His father, Roy Henry Jackson who worked away from home in Kansas City, Missouri was said to have been a great drunk that died of Alcoholism. Jackson was said to have met him twice while he was still alive.

Samuel Jackson attended many black native schools and graduated from Riverside High School, Chattanooga. He attended Morehouse College, Atlanta where he was among the Black Power Movement. Leroy Jackson was reportedly expelled from Morehouse College in 1969 after he locked some white Board of trustees for 2 days demanding reform in the school’s curriculum and leadership. He was charged with unlawful confinement.

While on suspension, Samuel Jackson went to Los Angeles where he worked as a social worker. After returning from suspension, Samuel Jackson went back to Morehouse College to complete his studies. After graduating in 1972 with a BA degree, he joined the Black Image Theater Company with his high school sweetheart, LaTanya Richardson performing skits all over the country.

He was within Black groups. He started feeling more strong with his affiliation in the group when the group started acquiring arms but his mother had to move him to Los Angeles after warnings from the FBI that he could die if he remains with the group, however, Samuel Jackson denied being involved in such group in an exclusive chat with Vogue Magazine.

In 1976, Jackson moved to Harlem, New York City to pursue a career in acting there he met Spike Lee and Morgan Freeman. He was featured on a play ‘A Soldier’s Play’ by Charles Fuller in 1981, ‘School Daze’ in 1988 by Spike Lee, ‘Do The Right Thing’ in 1989, ‘Mo’ Better Blues’ in 1990, ‘Jungle Fever’ in 1991 which gave him his first award in Cannes Film Festival where he acted as a drug addict that came out from the rehab.

After then, Samuel Jackson came to limelight shooting and directing movies. He was featured in movies like, ‘Jurassic Park’ ‘A Time to Kill’ ‘Die Hard with a Vengeance’ ‘Jackie Brown’ ‘The Hitman’s Bodyguard’ ‘Rules of Engagement’ ‘Shaft’ and many more.

Samuel Jackson married LaTanya Richardson (1980) who bore him a daughter named Zoe (1982) and they both live happily in California. He part-time played golf in a charity golf tournament with Gary Player to support the children in South Africa.

He is a fan of the Toronto Raptors Basketball team and a great Liverpool Football Club fan after a movie he featured; ‘51st State’ which was shot in Liverpool.
