UFC 253: Adesanya KNOCKED OUT Costa as middleweight champ, retains belt with a second-round win; Who is Adesanya?

Israel Adesanya and Paulo Costa spent months trading verbal shots. Still, when it came time to step into the Octagon at UFC 253, the only significant blows landed were those of the middleweight champion. The Nigerian silenced Brazilian Paulo Costa in the empty Fight Island arena with a stunning second-round knockout.

After spending a full round beating up Costa’s lead leg, Adesanya finished the challenger with punches in a second-round flurry of the main event on Fight Island in Abu Dhabi, as the fight was stopped on 3:59.

 

Israel Adesanya is a Nigerian-born New Zealand professional mixed martial artist. He has also competed in kickboxing and boxing. As a mixed martial artist, he is currently signed to the Ultimate Fighting Championship. He is the UFC Middleweight Champion and has an undefeated record of 20 wins and no losses.

 

Israel Adesanya has signed a multi-year deal with Puma. He will be the face of their Oceania division and be a part of their global marketing plans. It is an apparel and shoe sponsorship. He is the first MMA fighter to ever be sponsored by Puma.
